Salisbury Spinal Cord Injury Centre

You may be invited to the Salisbury Spinal Cord Injury Centre for a rehabilitation admission, for a short-stay assessment, and/or for outpatient clinic appointments. They offer a lifelong follow-up service including tissue viability, continence, posture and seating, urology, and sexual function.

SCI charities

Spinal Injuries Association; The Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) aim to reach everyone with a spinal cord injury, to tackle whatever barriers they face, and to connect them to all the help and support they need to flourish in their lives, in the way they want and choose. A UK-wide team of support coordinators and specialist nurses can provide advice and connect you with local and national services that can support you. They provide a SCI specialist counselling service for emotional support, available both for people with SCI and their friends, family and carers.

Back Up; Back Up help people with SCI to rebuild their independence and adjust to life with SCI, so they can reach their full potential. They deliver skills training for both wheelchair users and people who can walk, courses on returning to work, and activity courses including things like abseiling, canoeing, and sit-skiing! They facilitate great peer support services including an online forum and a mentoring scheme which is also open to family members.

Aspire; Aspire provides practical help to people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury, supporting them from injury to independence. They offer advice on housing, welfare benefits, and independent living. They have an Assistive Technology Programme which supports people with any level of injury to access technology like smartphones and computers.

Wheelpower; Wheelpower provide opportunities for disabled people to enjoy sport and live healthy active lives. They have online exercise classes and a directory of wheelchair sports organisations and community groups. They facilitate wheelchair sports events across the country to give people the chance to discover sport in a safe, welcoming and friendly

Cauda Equina Spinal Cord Injury (CESCI) is a support group dedicated to helping people living with Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES) find resources and support. They understand the challenges of living with CES and strive to help others.

Cauda Equina Champions; Cauda Equina Champions Charity is a patient-led organisation working alongside people living with Cauda Equina Syndrome. They aim to raise awareness of the syndrome, support the CES community and provide bespoke rehabilitation services for people after injury. They offer peer support by phone and online, workshops and support meetings, and psychological and psychosexual therapy.

The CES Healthcare Passport is a personalized, user-friendly document developed by Champions Charity to support individuals living with Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES) in healthcare and community settings.
