New patients with an acute spinal cord injury should be referred to the Spinal Cord Injury Centre via the national database.

MASCIP is the Multidisciplinary association for spinal cord injury professions in the United Kingdom. The volunteers of the organisation are SCI professionals striving to promote standards in clinical practise and promote the development of health and social care services for people with Spinal cord injury.
MASCIP holds an annual conference in November as an opportunity to promote service developments, share best practise and invite SCI professionals together.
MASCIP membership is free and includes a quarterly newsletter and 25% discount on the Journal of Spinal Cord Medicine.
SCIRE (spinal cord injury research evidence) is a collaborative project which provides systematic reviews of current practise and evidence. They host a vast range of evidence modules, outcome measures and clinical practise guidelines. You can subscribe to the SCIRE newsletter as well as search for evidence on topics of interest around SCI rehabilitation on their website.

The American Spinal Injury Association aim to advance care, education, and research to improve the lives of people with SCI. They developed the International Standards for Classification of Spinal Cord Injury (ISNCSCI) Worksheet (often known as the ASIA scale) which is internationally used to diagnose spinal cord injury level and severity. They offer in depth training on completing and interpreting the ISNCSCI through the ASIA Learning Centre.
ISCOS is the International Spinal Cord Society. They promote the highest standards of care in the practise of spinal cord injury rehabilitation across the world. They hold an Annual Scientific Meeting in a different country each year. They are driven to provide a global community for the sharing of international expertise and resources. Spinal Cord and Spinal Cord Series and Cases are the official journals of ISCOS.

Elearn SCI is a free education resource for professionals working within the field of SCI. You are required to register in order to work your way through the modules. Elearn SCI was an initiative of ISCOS and developed by the educational committee alongside it’s collaborating partners.

The London SCI project is working to improve outcomes and experiences for people living with Spinal Cord injury across London. The network teams provide education, clinical support, and leadership to people with SCI as well as the professional and staff working with them. They host an SCI learning hub which can be found on their website or via the link below. You need to register for access to the learning hub which is free.
